For this assignment we had to create a story using at least 8 photos. For my story I decided to just take what was going on in my life. My sister and mom happened to be coming for the weekend so…

For this assignment, we had to take 5 portraits all in different settings while also mimicking one portrait by a famous photographer. I chose Brandon Hesson’s beach portrait to mock because I liked the pose of the model in it. This was located at the beach but, since I am in college I found it hard to find different backgrounds considering, in my opinion, a lot of campus looks very similar. I tried to take pictures from different angles, framing different things, putting the subject at different heights, and playing around with the lighting. I found that I had to take a bunch of photos of the same thing in order to find the perfect ones Once I decided which ones I wanted then I color corrected them: exposure, levels, contrast, and brightness. All and all I found taking portraits to be a difficult task because it is hard to get you subject in the perfect place and then perfect light, one false move and it could be ruined. If I could do this again I would pay more attention to the angle I am shooting from.

For all of these photos, I put them into photoshop and then copied a new layer so I always have a fresh one to compare what work I have done. After I finished that then I started playing with the application by cropping some of the photos. Then, I decided to try something a little more technical. So, I went into adjustments and changes the brightness and contrast. Once, I had set those I went back into adjustments and played with the levels. I would move the RGB, and then the red, blue and green individually. I moved them the little points at the bottom to the left and the right until I got the correct color I wanted. I also went into the exposure and touched up if something was overexposed and played with the curves which also changes the RGB, and then the red, blue and green individually.

I feel as if these photos are my bottom ten and worst photos. I think this because most of them are either over or underexposed making the photos too bright or too dark to really see the composition and object o4r objects being captured. Also, I picked these as my bottom ten because some of the pictures are not framed right. The object I wanted to capture in the center was off to the side and some object did not even make it into the photos.
